Embracing Diversity Through The 7 Habits Leadership Program
At SDIS we celebrate differences as taught by the 7 Habits Leadership Program – through having a diversity of learners and through a myriad of school events. We are proud of our diverse community and the strength it brings to our school. When our students from different cultural backgrounds interact, there is a sharing of traditions and values. Cultural diversity promotes the exchange of ideas and knowledge, for instance through festivals and language classes.
We observe PRAYER MORNING every Tuesday where students are allocated rooms for worship based on their respective faiths. Through this, we teach the importance of respect and acceptance.
Peace Prayer Day: Uniting Cultures and Beliefs
Additionally, we celebrate PEACE PRAYER DAY, a solemn, diverse and meaningful annual event where students come colourfully attired in their respective traditional attires. Peace Prayer Day is dedicated to celebrating peace around the world, peace amongst cultures, and belief systems and peace among the school community. Poetry recitals, peace messages, songs and skits make it a colourful and soulful event each year.
The event ends with flowers and poems being placed at the 7 PEACE POLES standing tall on the school grounds. These poles represent life on all 7 continents and the need for the human race to embrace diversity, unity and compassion for all creation.
Fostering Empathy and Relationships for a Diverse World
By fostering diversity and celebrating differences, students embrace empathy and forge positive & meaningful relationships which prepare them for the challenges of a dynamically diverse and constantly changing world.
